G.C. Foster College hosted a five-day workshop to train and certify a number of primary school P.E. Teachers in the sport of Baseball. The workshop, which was conducted from March 2 – 6, 2015 was offered by the Institute of Sport in Jamaica; INSPORTS, in collaboration with a group from Canada; Baseball Canada led by lead Instructor and Programme Coordinator Kelsy McKintosh. Mr. Donovan Corcho, Director of Baseball at INSPORTS said that although there have been seminars and workshops before; this was the first certification course being offered to P.E. Teachers in Jamaica.
The Workshop had a total of 30 participants, who after this workshop will prepare their school teams for a tournament to be held in the Summer of 2015.
The plan for INSPORTS is to propagate the sport of Baseball throughout the Island by training and certifying P.E. Teachers. INSPORTS was instrumental in the development of a Baseball diamond at G.C. Foster College which is the only one in Jamaica.
